Overview
We're excited for you to participate in the beta program for our new reporting suite. Your feedback during this beta will help us refine the experience before it's available to everyone. We're especially interested in how the new dashboards, reports, and permissions fit into your day-to-day workflows.
Review the highlights
What can I expect? We’ve created new, more extensive permissions for the new reporting experience, some report names have been changed, and the navigation and the underlying data has improved.
Who on my team gets access to the new reporting? Everyone who currently has reporting access will automatically see it on their dashboard. Admins can then fine-tune reporting permissions to control exactly what each staff member can view within each category.
Can I switch back to the old experience? Yes, anytime, using the Reports toggle in the top left navigation bar.
Will I lose any data or reports? No. Your historical data stays intact, and you can still access the old reporting experience at any time.
Will my numbers look different? Some might. We've improved the underlying data logic, so a few reports may show numbers that differ slightly from the old experience. See the FAQ below for why.
Who do I contact with questions or bugs? Chat with us through Billie, email ReportingAdvisory@blvd.co, or reach out to your CSM.
How long does the beta last? The beta program will run for about a month before we start rolling out the new reporting experience to other Boulevard businesses.
Do I get every new report right away? Not necessarily. We're rolling out reports and features on an ongoing basis throughout the beta. See which reports you’ll get access to here.
Before you get started
Permissions & change management
Once the new reporting experience goes live, everyone who currently has reporting access will automatically see it on their dashboard. Admins can then fine-tune reporting permissions to control exactly what each staff member can view within each category.
The new reporting permissions only apply to the new experience. Changing these permissions will not affect how staff can access the old reports and summaries.
More granular reporting permissions
Admins now have finer control over what staff can see in Reports. In addition to requiring permission to access reports on the Dashboard and Professional app, admins can now:
Control which report categories staff can access
Limit whether staff see only their own data or all data for a location
Reporting permissions tie directly to the reporting categories in the reporting suite. If a staff member doesn't have access to a report category, that category won't appear in their Reports List. Dashboards may show limited or no data, along with a message explaining the restriction.
New reporting permissions only apply to the new reporting experience.
Staff can only view data for locations their staff profile is assigned to.
For full details, see What's Changing with Reports and Reporting Permissions.
Switching between reporting experiences
You'll always have access to the old reporting experience, including report summaries and any custom report templates you've created there.
To switch:
Find the toggle to the left of Reports in the top left navigation bar.
Turn it off to view the old experience, or on to return to the new one.
If you don't see the Reports toggle, your staff profile may not have permission to switch between reporting experience. Please reach out to support via Billie or email us directly at ReportingAdvisory@blvd.co.
Navigating reports
The Reports tab now has a persistent left sidebar, so you can move between reports and dashboards without losing your place. From the sidebar, you can:
Access the Business summary and Sales summary dashboards
Browse reports by category from the list of Detailed Reports
For more details, see Navigating the Reports Tab.
Some reports may be greyed out with a note "Coming soon". We will be adding Reports throughout the beta program, so if you cannot see them now, you will get access to them eventually. We'll notify businesses of any updates as they are readily available!
Dashboards
When you open the Reports tab, you'll now land on the Business summary dashboard.
Use this dashboard to get a high-level view of business performance across revenue, appointments, client retention, utilization, and sales activity. Compare results against previous periods and filter by date, location, or staff member to identify trends, spot changes, and understand what is driving overall business performance at a glance.
In addition to the Business summary, there is the Sales summary dashboard.
Use this dashboard to view all sales, payment methods, and merchant credit card sales in one place. Review total collected by category, payment mix, card sales and fees by merchant account to validate financial activity and support accurate reporting.
Customizing reports and saving views
During the beta, you can create custom views within the original report. These views are private, visible only to the person who created them.
We will be including a way for your to create shared views later in the beta.
When you filter a report or change its grouping or columns, you'll see the option to Save view or discard your changes in the top right corner. Saving a view lets you quickly return to a report with the exact filters, grouping, and columns you set up.
For more details, see Customizing and Filtering Reports.
Custom report views
To create a custom view:
Adjust filters
Use the filters at the top of the report to narrow your data to a specific date range, location, staff member, or other explicit details.
You can also select Customize to manage grouping and columns.
Customize: Group by
Adjust Group by options as needed to categorize your rows for your view.
In some reports, you may not be able to remove all Group by options. This helps preserve the accuracy and structure of the report.
Customize: Columns
In the Columns section, you can add, remove, and reorder columns from the sidebar. To reorder, simply drag and drop the columns in the order you prefer your data to populate.
For more details, see Customizing and Filtering Reports.
Save view
Once your custom view is set up, select Save view in the top right corner, enter a name, and select Save.
After saving, your view name will appear next to the report name with a dropdown arrow in the top left. Use that dropdown arrow to switch between saved views or return to the default version.
Every time you open a report, the default view loads automatically. Select the dropdown next to Default to switch to a saved view instead.
Save views for private use or share them with your staff. Shared views are only visible to staff who have permission to access the report where the view was created.
For more details, see Views
Manage custom report views
Saved views always live within the report they were created from. This helps keep your reporting experience organized, relevant, and easy for you and your staff to navigate.
Click the dropdown arrow and select Manage views to rename or delete any view you've created.
Saved views always live within the report they were created from, so your reporting stays organized and easy to navigate for you and your staff.
You can also easily find, filter, and delete custom views across all reports from the Views section of the reporting suite.
For more details, see Views
Reporting Best Practices
Start broad, then drill down: Use Dashboards to get a high-level view, then move to Detailed Reports for deeper analysis.
Match the report to your question: Start with the business question you want to answer, then choose the report category that best aligns with that goal.
Check your filters first: Before analyzing results, confirm your date range, location, staff, and other filters are set correctly.
Save views you use regularly: Use clear, descriptive names so you can quickly find and rerun customized reports without resetting your filters or settings.
Verify before troubleshooting: If something looks off, confirm orders are closed and your selected date range is correct before assuming there's a data issue.
Exporting your data
Export your data without creating a saved view. Make your customizations, then select the export icon in the top right of the screen. After exporting, discard your changes with no impact on your saved views.
Report library updates
To make the report library easier to navigate, we've combined similar reports and removed ones that are no longer needed. Some reports you used before may now have a new name or live inside another report.
At the start of this beta, you'll have access to 29 reports. The table below shows each report's new name, its original name (or "Net-new" if it didn't exist before), and its category. Click any report name for more details on the data inside.
If you have questions on the data within a report, we recommend clicking into the dedicated help center article for updated metric explanations.

Important data calculation updates
Category | What changed | Why it matters | Reports affected |
Sales metrics |
| In today’s experience the net and gross sale amounts in reports collide with business-level terms, and are not accurate in the data they’re actually showing. | Order Line Items, Daily summary, Staff performance, Service sales, Retail sales, Client sales |
Sales metrics |
| Gratuity & Offset fees should not contribute to revenue. Aligns with industry standard. | Staff performance, Daily summary, Order line items, Client sales, Business summary dashboard |
Sales metrics |
| Gives customers a reconciliation-ready cash figure and separates what was earned (revenue), from what was collected. | Order line items, Daily summary, Sales summary dashboard |
Sales metrics |
| One default amount that matches what staff are actually owed after an order is refunded. | Daily summary, Staff performance, Order line items |
Sales metrics |
| Adjustments are movement of liability, not sales. Mixing them into sales caused mismatch between Sales and Payments. You can now track all liability movement in the activity reports. | All sales reports. |
Sales metrics |
| Eliminates column bloat and shows clean accrual vs cash splits. | Order line item |
Staff attribution |
| This report should only show staff performance. Unattributed revenue lives in Daily summary and Order line item reports. Removing zero-activity staff reduces clutter | Staff performance |
Utilization & scheduling |
| The old version of reports inflated booked hours for double-booked staff. Booked time = time occupied, not the sum of overlapping durations The old experience subtracted all blocked hours regardless of shift producing negative available time. | Staff performance, daily summary, Labor forecast, Utilization |
Gift cards |
| Prevents the same liability from being double-counted across two report families The business now converts a refund into a gift card liability | Gift card activity, Gift card balance, Voucher activity, Voucher balance, Order line items |
Vouchers |
| Totals are now more meaningful, reporting is now consistent with Gift card activity report | Voucher activity |
Balance reports |
| In the old experience, we only showed current-state balances, with historical balances unavailable. Month-end and audits needed balances at any given point in time. Showing null creates less confusion around unpopulated fields for cost profit and margin values in the Inventory on hand report | Gift card balance, Voucher balance, Account credit balance, *Null historical value only relevant for Inventory on hand |
Memberships |
| The membership is technically active until it’s cancelled. Showing null as the renewal date is more accurate making it easy to identify in Client membership reports | Client memberships |
