Prerequisites
Prerequisites
Before using this report, make sure the following are in place. These directly impact whether you can access the report and how accurate the data will be.
Permissions: You must have the appropriate reporting permission enabled to see this report: Catalog Reporting > Inventory
If you don’t see the report, check your permissions first - see Reporting Permissions for more information.
Location and Access Scope: What you see in the report depends on your access:
You’ll only see data for assigned locations
Row-level access may further limit visible data
If it looks like data is missing, verify your location assignments and access settings.
Required Inventory Setup: For the report to show meaningful data, your inventory workflows must be set up correctly:
“Track Inventory” must be enabled on each product
Purchase orders must be created for inventory items, AND must be received and completed by either:
Selecting “Receive All” from the purchase order
Entering received quantities and marking the purchase order as complete
If these steps are not followed, inventory changes may not be recorded correctly.
If you’re seeing zeros or incorrect costs, it usually points to a missed step in your inventory workflow—not an issue with the report itself. Start by confirming that inventory tracking is enabled for your products, purchase orders are created and fully completed, and inventory has been properly received. Skipping one of these steps can result in incomplete or inaccurate data, so it’s important to follow the full workflow consistently to ensure your reporting reflects accurate inventory activity.

Report Caveats
There are a few important caveats and limitations to be aware of when using this report. Use these details to better understand how the data behaves and how to interpret it correctly.
Caveats | Details and Impact |
Inventory Adjustment Cost is based on FIFO (First In, First Out) | Boulevard uses FIFO (First In, First Out) to calculate inventory costs. This means when units of a product are consumed, the system assigns costs starting from the oldest batch received — so if you bought 10 units at $8 and later 10 more at $10, the first 10 used will be costed at $8, and the next at $10. |
FIFO is only used for automatic adjustments | Inventory Adjustment Cost is calculated using FIFO (First In, First Out) only when the adjustment is triggered automatically by the system — such as product usage from a completed service appointment or product sale. Manual adjustments made through the Adjust Quantities page do not use FIFO. |
Manual adjustments use the product's default unit cost, not the purchase order cost | When inventory is adjusted manually (e.g. for damage, loss, theft, or manual usage), the cost shown reflects the default unit cost stored on the product profile at the time the adjustment was made — not the cost entered on any purchase order. If the product profile's default unit cost is $0 or out of date, the Inventory Adjustment Cost for that row will be $0 or incorrect, even if units were purchased at a real cost. |
