Membership Event Summary Report |
Overview
The Membership Event Summary report helps you get a clear picture of how your membership base is growing or declining over time. It tracks new activations, pauses, cancellations, and past-due transitions within any date range, showing how memberships and clients moved from a starting status to an ending status across the period.
Use this report to monitor active membership base size, measure growth from new activations, and track cancellations and churn by plan or location. It's especially useful for identifying revenue at risk before it churns, since you can see past-due and scheduled-cancellation memberships alongside client retention and churn percentages to understand overall subscriber base health.

Report Caveats
There are a few important caveats and limitations to be aware of when using this report. Use these details to better understand how the data behaves and how to interpret it correctly.
Caveats | Details and Impact |
Starting and Ending counts are fixed point-in-time snapshots | Starting active count = memberships active or paused immediately before the period start date. Ending active count = memberships active or paused as of the period end date. These are frozen snapshots: a membership cancelled mid-period and then reactivated still counts as active at period end if it was active on that end date. |
Status transitions within the period can count a membership more than once | A membership that went active, then paused, then cancelled in a single period contributes to both the Paused count and the Cancelled count. The counts reflect state transitions that happened during the period, not final end-states only. |
Scheduled Cancellation memberships are still active | Memberships scheduled for cancellation count as active in the Ending count if their status is still active on the end date. Memberships Scheduled Cancellation is an early warning signal; they have not churned until the cancellation actually occurs. |
Retention and churn compare against the previous period | Client retention %, Client churn %, and the retained/churned counts measure who was active in the previous period and stayed or left. Changing the date range changes the comparison base, so rates from different range lengths are not comparable. |
