For more detail on building, customizing, and using reports, please check out the following resources:

Quick Start to Building and Customizing Reports

  • You can start adding your own custom reports in Boulevard by clicking the Add Report button at the top right of the Reporting page:

    • Every custom report in Boulevard is built off of a base report. In the Add Report menu, select a base report to get started. You can read about each report in our help center here.

  • You can easily edit and customize any report that already exists in the Reporting section.

    • Once you find a report you’d like to edit, click the Customize Report button above the report body:

  • The Customize Report dropdown allows you to configure your report in different ways. Within this menu, there are 3 different settings for how you can structure your report.

    • Report Data: This is the first identifying field for each row and controls how your overall report is organized

    • Rows Grouped By: Group rows by a certain Measure (e.g. staff name)

    • And Then Grouped By: Add a secondary Measure to group your rows (e.g. staff role, and then by staff name)

Columns include the data you want to see in your report and Filters help you narrow down specific metrics. Column selections may change depending on which report data is selected.

  • Depending on the underlying report, you can change report data categories, group by two different levels, and change or reorder the columns.

  • You can also sort the data by clicking any column or filter the report using the Filter Report menu:

General Reporting Tips

  • Reports refresh every 30-45 minutes. If you don’t see a recently closed order, please check the last refresh date at the top of each report.

  • Reporting data is only pulled from closed orders. Open orders are not included.

  • You can only pull one year of data at a time.

  • Please refrain from clicking to refresh the report while it’s loading. It may take a few minutes to load if the data set is large.

Popular Reports for Sales

    • This report provides a comprehensive overview of your service sales for a given time period.

    • By default, this shows total service sales by order, including count, dollar amount, and tax.

    • You can easily organize by filtering the Rows by Staff, Service Names, Service Category, or Client Name.

    • This report is excellent for reviewing retail product sales and can help you determine gross and net product sales.

    • This is a detailed report of all individual client transactions.

    • This report is a great way to track all money coming in to the business within Boulevard.

    • You can define the method of the transaction (e.g., card, cash, etc.).

    • You’re able to see the last four digits of credit and debit card numbers, but we do not expose full card numbers for security reasons.

The Detailed Line Item Report

The Detailed Line Item report is a large catch-all report that shows a granular breakdown of your day-to-day operations.

  • The Detailed Line Item report offers the most customization options. If you’re looking for something, it can likely be found here.

  • This report is great for pulling staff performance metrics alongside sales reporting, as well as client sales information.

  • There are over 100 different column types that you can add to this report. Keep in mind that the more columns you add, the longer it will take the report to load.

Popular Reports for Staff

  • Staff Performance

    • This report shows detailed performance metrics for your individual staff members.

    • The Staff Performance report includes a breakdown of staff services performed, product and service sales, and client counts.

    • You can monitor utilization percentage, average appointments, order size, etc.

  • Sales Breakdown

    • This report shows sales performance by staff role groups and individual staff members.

    • Shows a detailed overview of service and product sales in tandem with staff performance metrics.

Payroll Reporting

  • Boulevard cannot advise which specific reports you should use for payroll because each business calculates compensation differently. However, if you know what metrics you’d like to use, we can help you find those within our reports.

  • Commission reporting is only available within our summaries.

  • Hourly compensation rates are not available within Boulevard. However, the TImeclock report shows hours worked and can be used in any separate payroll software.

Before attempting to do payroll for the first time with Boulevard, be sure to check out the following support articles:

Commission Reporting Tips

  • All commission reporting is calculated based on closed orders (completed appointments).

  • There are four commission reports available in classic reports:

    • Commission Summary: an overview of all tracked commissions in one report

    • Service Commission: Totals of commissions on service

    • Product Commission: Totals of commissions of products

    • Tip Commission: Totals for staff’s gratuity

  • The commission percentage is calculated from the staff member’s commission compensation percentage, which can be found in their staff profile.

  • To customize the commission calculation when a voucher is used to pay for a service, navigate to Manage Location > Details. You can choose "Commission on the service list price" or "Commission on the value of the voucher.”

  • If you charge clients for late cancellations or no-shows based on your business's policy, the assigned service provider receives their regular commission percentage by default on the amount you charge the client.

  • You can transfer or clawback commission from an order by following the steps here.

  • If business service charges have been assigned, commission rates are calculated after deducting those charges.

See Business Service Charges for more info.

Account Credit Reporting

  • Purchases made with account credit appear on the day the client redeems the balance, not on the day that the account credit or gift card was purchased.

    • If your business offers account credit, check with your accountant to see if accrual-based accounting is best for your business

  • Account credit appears in reports in two ways:

    • As a sale (when account credit is sold as a deposit)

    • As a payment method (when the client redeems account credit)

    • You can filter out either one by using the “Filter Report” option

Product Unit Reporting (Medspas)

  • You can report on usage-based pricing in sales reports, including Detailed Line Item and Service Sales reports. The relevant fields are:
