Q: What is a same-day reminder text?

An automated text reminder is sent to clients the morning of their scheduled appointment, to help reduce no-shows and keep clients engaged the day of their service.

NOTE: This feature is only available to locations on Boulevard’s usage-based pricing model.

Q: Are same-day reminder texts a paid feature?

Yes. Same-day reminder texts require a dedicated phone number (aka booking line), and each location will be charged for sent and received text segments (similar to booking confirmation texts).

Q: What is the content of a same-day reminder text?

  • Client name

  • Business name

  • Appointment day & time

  • Confirmation prompt (included only for non-confirmed clients)

    • The client can reply ‘yes’ to confirm the appointment.

  • Optional customizations:

    • Additional verbiage (up to 480 characters)

    • Link to manage appointment

    • Link to outstanding forms

    • Cancellation policy

Q: Can a same-day reminder text be customized?

The default verbiage of the same-day reminder text cannot be customized, but you can append additional text, and also can include a link to manage appointment. Click here for details on how to add additional text and a link to manage appointment.

Q: Who are same-day reminder texts sent to?

By default, same-day reminder texts are sent to all unconfirmed and confirmed clients with an appointment scheduled that day.

Q: How are same-day reminder texts turned on?

Same-day reminder texts can be enabled from the client notification page in location settings, by users with the “View and edit client notifications” privilege.

Locations with a dedicated phone number (booking line) see the same-day reminder text option, “Same day as appointment” listed under the “Reminders” section.

When a user clicks on the menu option for the “Same day as appointment” reminder, they see the modal below.

From here, the user can see that same-day reminders are sent to both confirmed and unconfirmed clients. The user can also choose which time of day, in their location time zone, the same-day reminders go out each day. The user sees the toggle to turn same-day reminders on or off.

Q: What time do same-day reminders get sent to clients each day?

By default, same-day reminders start sending at 8am location time zone.

The daily send time can be modified in the same-day reminder setup modal – the location can select the time the same-day reminders will be sent each day. This customization is available to best address the location’s differing hours and typical service times

Locations can select which time of day they’d like same-day reminders to be sent, ranging in 30 minutes from 7am to 7pm. All same-day reminders for that day’s appointments are sent at this selected time.

Same-day reminder texts are not sent for appointments coming up in 30 minutes, or appointments that have already passed that day.

For example, if you select 9am, same-day reminder texts are sent at 9am for all of the scheduled appointments on that day, but clients with appointments at 9:30 do not get a reminder text since it’s so close to their appointment.

Q: Is a dedicated phone number required to set up same-day reminder texts?

Yes. Locations must have an active/registered dedicated phone number (aka booking line) in order to turn on same-day reminder texts. Locations without a dedicated phone number can set one up from the Messages tab, or from the client notifications page.

From the client notifications page, click “Get started” to create a dedicated phone number.

If a location without a dedicated phone number tries to turn on same-day reminder texts, they see this modal, but are unable to turn on same-day reminders until they’ve created a dedicated phone number by clicking “Get started”.
