Overview

The Sales Summary shows the total dollar amount of payments and refunds, as grouped by sales type and payment type. This summary also shows credit card processing fees.

Note: Differences Between Sales Category and Payment Method

The Sales Category and Payment Method sections are calculated using different criteria, so their totals may not always align:

  • Sales Category: Based on order close date and will only show orders closed on the selected dates(s)

  • Payment Method: Based on payment date and will only show payments taken on the selected date(s)

As a result:

  • If a customer makes split payments, the two sections may not match

  • The Payment Method section will always match the Payments & Refunds report, since both use payment-date calculations
