Overview
Time can be blocked off through the Boulevard Dashboard and also using the app. When time is blocked off, clients do not see why time is blocked; they only see that the appointment time is unavailable. Reasons for the time block are only viewable by the business.
Time-blocking is best used to block out short periods of time during the day. If entire days are to be blocked off, it's recommended to make the entire shift Unavailable using the Schedule. Common uses of time blocks include:
Work breaks such as lunches, meetings, and personal events
'Padding' a shift to reduce appointment availability
Optimizing a schedule by forcing non-blocked appointment times to be filled first
NOTE: Must have 'Create Own Appointments' permission setting enabled to set time blocks at an individual location level.
Must have the 'Create All Appointments' permission setting enabled to set time blocks for every Service Provider's schedule.
Creating a New Time Block in the Dashboard
Single-click on the calendar where you'd like to block time.
Select Block Time.
Under "Title", enter the reason for the time block.

If the Time Block should repeat, select This event should repeat and choose the frequency if it should repeat for a set number of times, or until a set date.
Select Personal or Business for the time block reason.
Click Save, and the blocked time shows on the Calendar.
When choosing a Reason for a time block, choosing Personal goes against utilization %, and choosing Business goes toward utilization % in classic reporting.

NOTES:
When adding or adjusting time blocks from the dashboard, you can only add and adjust time blocks from the Calendar View, after the schedule is created from your Mange Location > Scheduling tab.
You cannot make a block repeat for longer than 1 year.
To edit an existing time block, double-click the block to get to the pop-up window where you can make adjustments.
Integration-created blocks
Calendar Sync
When a time block is created via the personal calendar sync feature, it will only display a “Blocked On” line. A “Blocked By” line will not appear.
Zapier
When a time block is created through the Zapier integration, it will display both a “Blocked By” and “Blocked On” line. The block will be attributed to the staff member whose schedule it appears on and will typically be created within 1–5 minutes of the triggering action being completed.
