Overview
Businesses have the ability to track user activity within the self-booking overlay on your website by inputting your unique Meta Pixel ID in the dashboard (gear icon > Online Booking > Conversion Analytics). This tracks specific events as the user progresses through the self-booking overlay, and can help you understand how well your Meta ads are performing.
Meta Pixel is only available on the business level, not per location. (Meta pixel was previously known as Facebook Pixel, but can also be used to track Instagram ad performance.)
What can be tracked?
By having these codes in the dashboard, you are able to track the following in Meta Pixel:
Event Name | What It Tracks |
cart_created | creation of a cart |
view_content | clicked name of individual service |
add_to_cart 💰 | clicked 'Add' under individual service |
find_a_time_date_change | selected different appointment day |
begin_checkout💰 | entered "Complete Your Booking" page |
purchase/cart_completed 💰 | fully completed booking or purchase |
Meta (Facebook) Pixel
Detailed information from Meta about the Meta Pixel can be found here.
NOTE: Each Business dashboard is limited to a single Pixel ID.
Meta Pixel Setup (both parts required!)
Meta Pixel Setup (both parts required!)
Part 1: On Meta
Pixel ID
You must obtain a Pixel ID to use the Meta Pixel Conversion Tracking. If you do not yet have a Pixel ID, follow these instructions provided by Meta.
Business Manager
You also need a Business Manager to use the API. Business Manager helps advertisers integrate Facebook and Instagram marketing efforts across their business and with external partners. If you don't have a Business Manager yet, see the Help Center article on how to Create a Business Manager.
Obtain a Meta Access Token
You’ll need to provide Boulevard your Access Token in order for Boulevard to send events to Meta.
Inside Events Manager:
Step 1 - Choose the Pixel you want to implement.
Step 2 - Select the Settings tab.
Step 3. Find the Conversions API section and click on the Generate access token link under Set up manually, and follow the instructions pop-up:
Note: The Generate access token link is only visible to users with developer privileges for the business. The link is hidden from other users.
Once you have your token, click on the Manage Integrations button in the Overview tab in Events Manager. In the pop-up screen, click the Manage button next to Conversions API. This will automatically create a Conversions API app and Conversions API system user for you. There is no need to go through App Review or request any permissions.
Part 2: In Boulevard
An Administrator or Business Manager will need to navigate to the Admin Settings (under the Gear Icon in the top right), and then select the “Client Experience” page from the left navigation.
Add the Pixel ID values and Access Token values. Once these values are added, your Meta Pixel Integration is complete!
