Boulevard’s AI Receptionist, Beau, answers incoming phone calls for your business — booking and managing appointments, answering common questions, and connecting callers to your team when they need a person.
Because AI Receptionist is built natively into Boulevard, Beau already knows your service menu, pricing, availability, and location details. She doesn't just chat — she takes real action.
AI Receptionist is currently in beta and rolling out gradually to all customers. We're actively improving it, so features may change as we go.
Ready to turn it on? See Setting Up AI Receptionist for the step-by-step walkthrough.
What Beau does on a call
When a client calls, Beau answers, figures out what they need, and handles it one of five ways:
Books a new appointment — sends a booking link with the right service already selected.
Reschedules or cancels — sends a client portal link so the client can self-manage.
Answers questions — walks through your service menu and common FAQs.
Connects to your team — a warm hand-off to a live person when the caller asks or the request is beyond what Beau can do. (Or choose to always take a message if you prefer)
Takes a message — a written summary for staff follow-up, captured in a centralized call log and each client thread.
If a caller asks for a person or Beau can't help, she hands off — or, if no one's available, takes a message.
Why businesses use it
Never miss a chance to book — coverage during peak hours, after hours, or around the clock.
Keep your team focused — staff stay with the client in front of them instead of chasing the phone. If you want, the phone doesn't have to ring at all. Robocalls and automated spam generally hang up before getting to your team.
Beau already knows your business — no scripts to write; she pulls from your Boulevard menu, pricing, and availability.
Everything in one inbox — every call is captured alongside your staff and marketing messages, with an AI summary and any follow-up flagged, so hand-offs are seamless.
What you can set up
You choose how Beau works for your business:
When she answers — around the clock, or after hours only.
What happens when a caller needs more help — transfer to a live person (requires a second number) or take a message.
An emergency disclaimer — clinical businesses can have every call open with a spoken reminder to dial 911 in case of emergency.
When clients want to book or adjust existing appointments: Send booking link with the correct service selected vs. transfer to team
Connect to Medical Director--clinical businesses can set up a transfer to their medical director for callers who request to speak with them.

What Beau doesn't do (yet)
AI Receptionist is focused on inbound calls and common front-desk tasks. If AI Receptionist is asked to handle something outside of her skillset, she will transfer the caller or take a message according to the business' settings.
She can't currently book or purchase:
Memberships, packages, and gift cards
Group appointments
Bookings at a location other than the one being called
She also doesn't do outbound calling, two-way texting, or custom/consultative booking that requires matching a client to specific staff expertise.
A few things aren't customizable yet: giving Beau direct feedback on what she says, adjusting her tone, voice, or name, and setting custom logic for when she hands off.
Getting started
AI Receptionist is self-serve — you can turn it on yourself in-product, no amendment or SKU needed. You'll need a Boulevard booking line to use it (most businesses already have one). It's priced and set up per location, and it's easy to turn off. For details, see AI Receptionist pricing.
Free to start: all usage is on us through September, so you can try Beau at no cost.
