Precision Scheduling is set to the default settings for all of our customers, to start out. However, there is still some flexibility, and most settings can be customized at the location level.

What can you customize?
Precision Scheduling: Adjust the interval that filler times appear in
First Available: Control how bookings are distributed when clients choose “first available”
Scheduling Preferences: Managing group appointment behavior
Precision Scheduling Filler Time Intervals
As explained in Precision Scheduling: What is it and how does it work, the feature uses your selected “level of optimization” to determine the interval for filler times. When you adjust this setting, you directly influence how many additional time slots appear.
Higher optimization levels show fewer times, while lower levels show more. That said, increasing or decreasing the number of times isn’t the primary goal of this setting.
Here’s how each optimization level controls the spacing of available time slots:
Longest Service Times: Displays appointment start times every 240 minutes
Long Service Times: Displays optimized start times every 120 minutes
Recommended Baseline: Displays times every 60 minutes
Short Service Times: Displays times every 30 minutes
Shortest Service Times: Displays times every 15 minutes
Since Precision Scheduling handles optimal times, it’s important to make sure filler times align with the most common services you offer and their durations. This setting lets you fine-tune that behavior and can also support other scheduling goals based on your needs.
First Available
You can control how Precision Scheduling assigns new bookings to your providers. Choose from the following options:
Prioritize Efficiency
Equal Opportunity
Less Busy Providers
Let’s break down what each option does…
Prioritize Efficiency
When you select this option, the system includes secondary factors like provider changes, resource requirements, and client wait times when calculating the most optimal booking times. It then selects the best provider for the appointment, determines the ideal service order (if multiple services are booked), and applies the main factors to surface the optimal times based on your configured settings.
The system may simplify this process depending on your scheduling setup. If the appointment includes a single service, doesn’t require resources, provider assignments wouldn't change the outcome, or availability is balanced across providers, the calculation is more straightforward.
Equal Opportunity
This option aims to distribute First Available bookings as evenly as possible. It reviews existing bookings where the system, not the client, assigned the provider. Bookings where the client selected a provider are excluded from the calculation.
Over time, the system assigns First Available bookings in a roughly even distribution across providers.
Less Busy Providers
The system calculates a percentage for each provider based on booked hours vs. total bookable hours, then assigns the booking to the provider with the lowest utilization. This option considers all bookings, both client-requested and system-assigned, when determining which provider is least busy.
Scheduling Preferences
Group Booking Settings
The system offers three options for how group appointments can be booked. If a time slot doesn’t meet the selected criteria, the system marks it as not viable and won’t display the time as an option.
Group Booking Options:
Performed at the same time or back-to-back
Performed at the same time only
Performed at the same time, starting at the same time
When a client requests a group appointment, the system evaluates how all requested services fit together. It only shows time slots that meet the selected group booking criteria.
What counts as a “Same Time” booking?
The system considers a booking to be “same time” when the start and end time of Booking B fall entirely within the duration of Booking A.
Here are examples of valid “same time” bookings:
✅ This is a viable same-time booking.
✅ This is also a viable same-time booking.
❌ This does not qualify as a same-time booking.
What qualifies as a back-to-back booking?
The system treats a booking as back-to-back when Booking B starts during the same time window as Booking A but ends after Booking A finishes.
Here are examples of valid back-to-back bookings:
✅ This qualifies as a back-to-back booking.
✅ This also qualifies as a back-to-back booking
❌ This does not qualify as a back-to-back booking.
What qualifies as a “same time, starting at the same time” booking?
This type of booking follows the same rules as a standard “same time” booking, but with one key difference: all bookings must start at the exact same time and finish within the same overall time window.
What happens if a group booking requires a provider change?
If a group booking needs a different provider, the system still considers the booking valid, as long as it meets the selected group booking settings and the wait time between services isn’t too long. By default, the system allows up to a 15-minute wait between provider transitions, which works best in most cases.
