The Reception app is no longer supported and will be deprecated by mid-2022. To keep the same functionality (and gain some!), upgrade to the Boulevard Duo iPad app. The Duo app works with or without Duo card reader. To use the Duo app, your iPad must be able to run iOS 13+.

See how to set up the Duo app without a Duo card reader here.

Overview

Boulevard's Reception app is able to be used on Apple iPad only. To manage settings for the Boulevard Reception iPad app, click the gear icon at the bottom left of the main screen.

Remote control allows the front desk to open orders on the device remotely from the Dashboard. This feature can be disabled on devices that are not meant for checking out clients. Disabling remote control will still allow for check-ins and forms. To enable or disable remote control:

  1. Tap the gear icon

  2. Tap Device Settings

  3. Toggle Connect right to enable or left to disable

Prevent Clients From Exiting the Boulevard iPad Reception App

Boulevard recommends using the “Guided Access” feature on the iPad running the Boulevard Reception App. Apple iPads have a built-in feature called Guided Access, which limits users to one specific app, preventing them from switching to another app or returning to the Home screen. To enable this feature:

  1. Go to Settings > Accessibility, then turn on Guided Access.

  2. Tap Passcode Settings, then tap Set Guided Access Passcode.

  3. Enter a passcode, then re-enter it. From here, you can also turn on Face ID or Touch ID as a way to end a Guided Access session.

Once Enabled:

  1. Open the Boulevard iPad Reception App.

  2. Triple-click the Home button. (On iPads without a Home Button triple-click the side button)

  3. Tap Start on the upper-right hand corner.
